Jonesborough, Tennessee

Eastern Tennesee in October was a fantastic time with family to attend the Adam Mitchell reunion and find long lost relatives to reconnect with. I loved this quaint town at the base of the Smokey Mtns.

My son, Tyler

There is my son Tyler on the right of this picture. Isn't he the best looking Elder out there??? Of course, I am prejudice and biased, but he is a pretty cute kid. I like the photo he sent from Idaho where the field is white ready to harvest. He has probably had 15 baptisms in the last several months in a dry baptism place (Soda Springs, Idaho). He says the Lord has always answered his prayers. I love his inspiring letters. He just got transferred this week to Utah- Ogden West area

Texas in September

So, I had to lay down next to my Baptist minister's grave to figure out how tall he was because I am 5 ft. 7 inches. I think I found out later that they are really buried underground, and construct a tomb on top. He had an impressive marble headstone. Oh...genealogy is like a treasure hunt!! You are missing out it if you don't try the field work!!! It's like that movie DaVinci code. I love breaking the code.

I spent a bunch of time in Austin at the Land Office finding lots of stuff on my people. It was great to see their land. Wondering why I never inherited all their land....was my ancestors struck off the list???

Couldn't believe I was really seeing this guy in Austin riding a bike with a big box fan on his back. It was like one of those pictures you get of things you see in foreign countries. The funny thing was Shirleen thought he was really using it to keep cool. Boy, what people will do to keep cool in Texas.

TEXAS HERE I COME

Shirleen , my sister-in-law and I decided after a Genealogy convention in Little Rock, Arkansas to take a week trip to Texas to find our dead. So, I saddled up and we traveled all over Eastern Texas in search of her mother's family. I was looking for my Foscue & Smith relatives. The Smith's were important in The Republic Texas government. They were scalped and killed by Indians.

Biking is a BLAST!!!

I got my girls out of bed to go bike over to Compton Gardens with me. It was so much fun. It's something that we enjoy as a family. Clint can go up and down the hills (mtns) with out stopping. I have to keep stopping and walk my bike up the steep inclines. On this trip there were 4 fawns running along side us in some of the wooded parts.

Maybe someday I can bike 18 miles an hour like Clint does up and down hills.

Summer Fun

I love summer and this summer was no exception. I celebrated my birthday with all my kids except my missionary son home. Wow it was great to have Brittany & Mickelle home. Brittany brought her friend, Jules Ferreria with her. They threw a big Hawaiian surprise on our deck complete with music, lights and entertainment. Clint & Mickelle had made a Hawaiian dinner and a cheesecake for me. I spent the next day tubing on Loch Lomond Lake with the family. Water sports is one of my favorites.

4th of July in Provo, Utah

We decided to stay for the 4th of July and see the Provo Freedom festival parade and spectacular at the football stadium with FREE tickets compliments of Gary & Debbie. The Jonas Brothers, She Daisy, & Glenn Beck. Jonathan & Erica loved it !!! The kids had fun on Grandma's lawn with sparklers and the usual fire crackers.
